Prior to starting BuildingConnected, I worked as a general contractor for 6 years. In 2012, I quit my job to start BuildingConnected. From my experience, I knew that the bidding process requires engagement with many different businesses on a constant basis. It seemed to me that if we could connect everyone on one network we could simplify the process for everyone.
A few years later, BuildingConnected is now used by more than 700,000 construction professionals.
Today, I’m thrilled to announce some exciting news – Autodesk is acquiring BuildingConnected!
By joining the Autodesk team, we accelerate our goal of improving the lives, jobs, and relationships of millions of hardworking construction professionals worldwide by building easy-to-use tools you love to use. For the first time ever, contractors will be able to have a seamless flow from preconstruction to finished project – combining the best of BuildingConnected and Autodesk’s solutions.
Over time, we will integrate workflows between BuildingConnected and Autodesk technology for a comprehensive workflow from design to build to operate. Specifically, we will build workflows that allow general contractors to populate the BuildingConnected bid packages with sheets and model views from Autodesk’s BIM 360, PlanGrid, Assemble Insight, Revit and AutoCAD. Likewise, when subcontractors view a bid, they’ll be able to view the project bid documents using a combination of our BIM 360, PlanGrid, Assemble Insight and Autodesk Forge technology. As we build out our preconstruction offerings, we will provide subcontractors with workflows that enable them to quantify and estimate directly on the sheets and model views in the bid package.
Thank you for your support, trust and business. We’re excited about the opportunity to create a digital marketplace for the global construction industry and expand on Autodesk’s and BuildingConnected’s shared construction community, helping to boost productivity, while lowering cost and risk.
